Burch Family Farm Restaurant
Located in a large, brick historical building (a former museum) at the corner of Route 4 and (#4) Charles Street Fort Ann, NY 12827, the Burch Family Farm Restaurant is owned and operated by the Burch family, who concurrently operate a large dairy farm in the Eastern portion of the Town of Fort Ann in Washington County, New York.
Open daily for breakfast and lunch, the Burch's cook and serve pork, beef and beefalo (buffalo-cattle hybrids), along with chicken, eggs and vegetables produced on the family farm or purchased from farms throughout Washington County. The food is well prepared; there are a good variety of daily breakfast and lunch specials .
There are also homemade desserts, and the homemade pies, which seem to sell out each day, along with cookies or muffins. The serving area is very clean as is the the kitchen. They are friendly, accommodating and both daughter and mother are great with conversation. Burch's offers savory, healthy and delicious meals of adequate - but not excessive portions. The farm-fresh vegetables are both very good as well as trendy - the "locavore" concept!
The cleanliness reflects the use of modern cleaning and sanitizing solutions combined with a consistent and well planned housekeeping effort.
The restrooms are also spotless and comfortable - down a hallway from the main dining room.
Season And Hours Open
year round, 7 days, 7AM - 2PM.
Moderate! Some price samples: cup of soup under $1.50, bowl $2.25! Most specials $5.00 -
$8.00, Iced tea $1.00 etc. The staff is friendly and courteous. Real maple syrup for breakfast - served during open hours. The pork, chicken and beef is tasty, mostly raised in surrounding Washington County and Western Vermont. Fresh baked pies, tarts, cookies etc.
The brick and cut stone house, which houses the restaurant, was erected about 1840 reusing
many of the bricks from the original fort house that stood here until about 1777. The building has served as inn, pub, bar, restaurant and even private home. The building has also been renovated several times. Currently is is rustic with children's primitive artwork in frames adorning some walls Just west of the restaurant, near Charles Street, one finds a historic old dug well that dates to early 18th century
The food is local, fresh and served by the people who know the food best.
The facility is clean, comfortable and handicap accessible. This is not a pretentious restaurant. Burch's offers savory, healthy and delicious meals of adequate - but not excessive portions. The beef and beefalo are raised on their own farm or purchased nearby. Fresh eggs, potatoes and corn are common in the mid-late Summertime. The farm-fresh vegetables are both very good as well as trendy - the "locavore" concept! A farming family wherein several members participate in the farming, the catering & the restaurant!
The staff is friendly and courteous. Real maple syrup for breakfast - served during open hours. The pork, chicken and beef is tasty, mostly raised in surrounding Washington County and Western Vermont.
A nice selection of relishes, maple syrup, tomato sauces, salsas, marinades, hot sauce and similar items are offered for sale. It is possible to order the beefalo in quantity. A healthy meat selection.
This is a family operation that brings the concern for the food, service and facility that one would expect in a large home. The care and skill is obvious.
A future website is planned.
The lot is adjacent to Halfway Creek (as named in Fort Ann).
A future entry as a historical building is being planned.
