Lock C-2

Lock C-2 on the modern Champlain Canal is located in the Town of Halfmoon, 4 miles north of Lock C-1. This lock is located on an island in the middle of the river. On the east side of the island is a dam and spillway for excess water; on the west side of the lock is a hydroelectric power plant. This combination of lock, spillway and power plant, and the 18.5 lift (or drop) make for an interesting boating experience and can really show the power of the river.  The Lockmaster can be reached by VHF Radio channel 13 or by phone at (518) 664-4961.
