Description of Event

Summer Sounds of Salem is a summer concert series, running from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. It is, and always has been, FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! The stage is graced with some of our region’s best talent. SUMMER SOUNDS OF SALEM STARTS ITS SIXTH SEASON WITH PHIL HOYT, OUR NEIGHBOR FROM GRANVILLE! BRINGING ORIGINAL SONGS AND TRADITIONAL COUNTRY MUSIC TO OUR "PORCH".

Sounds of Salem runs concurrently with the Salem Farmers Market, providing great music for onlookers, shoppers and exploring historic downtown Salem.

JOIN US AND THE RT. 22 FARMERS' MARKET ...PARKING, HANDICAPPED ACCESSIBLE.  BRING A FOLDING CHAIR OR PICNIC BLANKET.   Summer Sounds 2012 will be opening in a new location, using a new stage! You can find us on the green next to the Train Depot on Main St. Route 22...we will be performing on a sculpture installation called "Porch Pieces" by Bryony Graham, an artist based in Suffolk, UK . Graham found inspiration for Porch Pieces during the US/UK Iron Symposium in 2009, when she discovered the uniquely American social and architectural tradition of the front porch that mixes the realms of the public and private in way that does not occur in the UK.

SEPTEMBER 1 - AL AND KATHY BAIN
This duo plays traditional country, bluegrass and gospel music and are known for their outstanding vocals and harmonies,
with Kathy on upright bass and Al playing a Travis-style guitar and 5-string banjo.
