The Charles R. Wood Theater
The Charles R. Wood Theater is a 300 Seat Performing Arts Theater in the heart of Downtown Glens Falls. The theater opened in 2004 and is located in a renovated Woolworth's Department Store. Named for famed philanthropist Charles R. Wood the founder of Storytown USA (now The Great Escape), the Wood Theater hosts nearly 140 ticketed events per year and has hosted such stars and dignitaries as Hillary Clinton, Ed Asner, Jimmy Webb, Ralph Nader, Richard Marx, Jack Ingram, Paula Cole, Taylor Hicks, Loretta LaRouche etc. It is also the home of The Adirondack Theatre Festival in June and July, Glens Falls Community Theatre, Adirondack Children's Troupe, Glens Falls Ballet Center, Adirondack Ballet, Adirondack Repertory Dance Theater, Wrightstage Productions and Pendragon Theater. The Wood features facility for concerts, plays, musicals, meetings and weddings. The theater is fully equipped and has the capabilies for showing movies and powerpoint productiosn with full surround sound Over 35 different groups rent the facility over a one year period.
