Saratoga Washington Partnership

In recent years, municipalities and non-profit organizations along the Upper Hudson River in Saratoga and Washington Counties have independently initiated local projects that foster the areas' rich natural and cultural heritage, as well as provide for sustainable economic growth. The Saratoga-Washington on the Hudson Partnership is established to comprehensively support their efforts through an innovative and voluntary framework of public and private groups, including local and state government. The Partnership will act as an intermediary for existing public and private initiatives already established in the area, as well as a forum for new ideas to assist with collaborative agriculture and open space preservation; economic development and revitalization of downtowns and main streets; recreational and tourism development; and protection of natural, cultural, and historical heritage.

Assemblyman Roy McDonald worked with Senator Joseph Bruno and Assemblyman Steven Englebright to establish the Saratoga-Washington on the Hudson Partnership.

The aim of the partnership is to act as an intermediary for the existing public and private initiatives already in the area as well as a forum for new ideas. "The Saratoga-Washington on the Hudson Partnership will be an influential organization to allow further and more effective coordination between the local non-profit organizations and the state agencies designed to protect and improve this important area in our state and nation's history," stated Assemblyman McDonald.

Communities in the Saratoga-Washington on the Hudson Partnership include the towns of Easton, Greenwich and Fort Edward and the villages of Fort Edward and Greenwich in Washington County. Membership from Saratoga County includes the towns of Northumberland, Saratoga, Stillwater, Halfmoon and Waterford; the Villages of Schuylerville, Victory, Stillwater, Waterford and the City of Mechanicville.
