Corlear Bay

This bay is named in honor of Arent van Corlear. Born in Holland in 1620, he was known for his kindness and fairness when dealing with Native Americans throughout New France. In 1667 Corlear drowned  when his boat overturned during a storm. He had been on his way to Quebec to visit Governor de Tracy. This bay is believed to be the location of his death.
