Ticonderoga Heritage Museum

The Ticonderoga Heritage Museum is located in downtown Ticonderoga in the 1888 Building, the last remaining structure of the Ticonderoga Pulp and Paper Company.

Our mission is to advance the awareness and appreciation of the Industrial Heritage of Ticonderoga through preservation and interpretation.  As a Heritage Visitor Center along the Lakes to Locks Passage,  we recreate experiences with inspiring programs, relevant exhibits and creative children's workshops.

We focus on Programs and Exhibits that:

  • Excite children and spark imagination for discovery and learning.
  • Engage families in unique cultural interactions.
  • Enhance curiosity and knowledge of our region’s past, present, and future.
  • Emphasize the legacy of the La Chute River.

Don't Miss This When Visiting

Our new interpretive water power exhibit iemphasizes the legacy of the La Chute River and tells  the fascinating story of Ticondeoga's industrial heritage. Throughout the Museum are handsome scale models of buildings representing early industries in Ticonderoga. The Tanning Mill, the Graphite Mill, and the Woolen Mill are just a few of the many outstanding replicas that Denise Huestis, a local artist and friend of the Museum, has created exclusively for the Heritage Museum.  Each tells a story and enhances curiosity and knowledge of our region’s past, present and future.

Our free Children's Workshops offer action packed fun projects involving friendly frogs, creepy critters and darting dragonflies. Boat building, fish pole making, nature prints and other crafts enrich and inspire children while delivering an awareness of our rich culture and industrial heritage. Our Children's Workshops take place on Wednesdays and Fridays during July and August from 9AM to 10:15AM on the Museum grounds.
